What is HIV Counseling and Testing?

HIV Counseling and Testing (HCT) is a confidential process that includes:

• Pre-test Counseling: Education about HIV, transmission, prevention, and the testing process
• HIV Testing: A quick, reliable, and confidential test using blood or oral fluid
• Post-test Counseling: Providing results with care, support, and information on next steps, regardless of the outcome

All services are completely confidential and voluntary. We respect your privacy and your right to choose.

2. Pre-Test Counseling

Our trained counselors:

• Explain what HIV is and how it affects the body
• Discuss how HIV is transmitted and how it can be prevented
• Prepare you emotionally for receiving your test result
• Offer risk assessment and personalized advice

3. Rapid HIV Testing

• Performed by qualified health professionals
• Quick results: usually available within 15–20 minutes
• Minimal discomfort with finger-prick or oral swab options
• Quality-assured testing kits for accuracy and reliability

4. Post-Test Counseling

Whether your result is negative or positive, we offer:

• Supportive and non-judgmental guidance
• Education on staying negative or living positively
• Immediate referral to care and treatment services if HIV-positive
• Access to mental health, nutritional, and social support resources

Your Journey Doesn’t End With a Test

At Neftaly, we walk with you every step of the way. If your test is negative, we help you stay that way through education, condoms, PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis), and behavior change support. If your test is positive, we provide immediate linkage to antiretroviral therapy (ART), psychosocial support, and follow-up care.
