NeftalyCDR – Diepsloot Youth Project Health and Safety Report by Daniel Makano Neftaly Development Specialist – 20 June 2025

Diepsloot Youth Project Health and Safety Report

    Position: Health and Safety Representative

    Date:20  June 2025

To the CEO of Neftaly, Neftaly Malatjie, Royal Committee Chairperson Clifford Legodi, Neftaly Royal Chiefs and Human Capital

    Kgotso ebe le lena

    1. Executive Summary

This report outlines the current health and safety issues identified within DYP facilities. The condition of several key infrastructure components and equipment presents risks that may hinder the effective delivery of Neftaly’s educational programs and compromise the safety and well-being of students, staff, and visitors. In addition to addressing safety hazards, this report also includes a brand-aligned recommendation regarding facility aesthetics — notably the wall color — to better reflect Neftaly’s visual identity.

    2. Purpose of the Report

The primary objective of this report is to:

    • Identify and document current safety and operational challenges.
    • Evaluate the risk each issue presents to people and operations.
    • Provide actionable recommendations for immediate and long-term remediation.
    • Align improvements with Neftaly’s branding and organizational image.

    3. Identified Challenges and Issues

    4. Health and Safety Implications

The current state of facilities and equipment poses the following risks:

    •  Injury and Legal Liability: Broken flooring, door handles, and ceiling holes may result in accidents.
    •  Disruption of Learning Activities: Inoperable technology reduces the effectiveness of Neftaly’s educational initiatives.
    •  Reputational Risk: Poor maintenance and mismatched aesthetics can reflect negatively on Neftaly’s brand image and credibility.
    •  Non-Compliance: Continued operation under these conditions could breach Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations.

    5. Branding & Aesthetic Consideration

As part of the improvements, it is recommended that the interior walls be repainted in a color scheme consistent with Neftaly’s corporate branding, specifically the Neftaly green, instead of the current pink color.

Rationale: Aligning the wall colors with the Neftaly logo (green or white) will reinforce brand consistency, professionalism, and create a more unified and motivational environment for learners and staff.

    6. Recommendations Summary

     Priority LevelAction Required
UrgentRepair broken floor areas near toilets and classroom
    UrgentReplace broken sliding door handles

    7. Conclusion

Diepsloot Youth Project  currently faces a number of health, safety, and operational challenges that must be addressed as a matter of urgency. The issues highlighted in this report, if left unresolved, will continue to impact the safety of the facility, disrupt educational services, and diminish the organization’s professional image. A coordinated repair and renovation effort — including branding updates — is essential for ensuring a safe, functional, and inspiring environment for all stakeholders.

Neftaly: Performance Management in Agile Project Management Environments

As organizations embrace Agile methodologies to boost responsiveness and innovation, traditional performance management models often fall short. At Neftaly, we understand that managing performance in Agile environments requires flexibility, real-time feedback, and a team-centric approach that aligns with the iterative nature of Agile workflows.

The Challenge: Aligning Traditional Performance Systems with Agile Ways of Working

Conventional performance management typically focuses on:

    • Annual reviews
    • Individual objectives
    • Static KPIs

Agile environments, however, are dynamic. They emphasize:

    • Short sprints and fast iterations
    • Team collaboration over individual achievement
    • Continuous improvement through regular feedback loops

To succeed in Agile, organizations must rethink performance management to be as adaptive and collaborative as the projects they manage.

Neftaly’s Approach to Agile-Aligned Performance Management

    1. Shift from Annual Reviews to Continuous Feedback

Agile teams require real-time performance insights. Neftaly helps organizations implement:

    • Regular check-ins and retrospectives
    • Peer feedback mechanisms
    • Continuous coaching instead of yearly evaluations

This creates an ongoing dialogue that supports learning and improvement at every stage.

    2. Focus on Team Outcomes, Not Just Individual Metrics

Agile success is collective. We support performance systems that:

    • Evaluate how well teams meet sprint and project goals
    • Recognize collaboration, adaptability, and shared accountability
    • Balance individual contributions with team-based KPIs

This encourages a culture of shared success and innovation.

    3. Goal Setting That Evolves with the Work

Agile work is iterative—so goal-setting must be, too. Neftaly introduces:

    • Flexible, short-term goals aligned with sprint cycles
    • OKRs (Objectives and Key Results) that adapt with priorities
    • Transparent tracking tools to measure progress in real time

These methods ensure goals remain relevant and achievable.

    4. Empowering Agile Leaders and Scrum Masters

Managers in Agile environments are facilitators, not just evaluators. We help them:

    • Shift focus from control to coaching
    • Use performance insights to remove blockers
    • Lead with emotional intelligence and agility

This leadership style drives better team dynamics and sustained performance.

    5. Data-Driven Insights for Agile Decision-Making

Neftaly leverages Agile performance metrics such as:

    • Velocity and sprint completion rates
    • Burndown charts and cycle time
    • Team satisfaction and engagement scores

These analytics provide actionable insights for both team health and project delivery.

    Benefits of Agile-Aligned Performance Management

Organizations that evolve their performance practices to fit Agile environments experience:

    • Faster feedback and course correction
    • Improved team morale and collaboration
    • Greater alignment between goals and outcomes
    • Enhanced adaptability and continuous learning
    • Increased innovation and customer value delivery

Neftaly: Driving Performance in Agile-First Organizations

At Neftaly, we help organizations design and implement performance management systems that are nimble, people-centered, and outcome-driven—just like Agile itself. When performance management evolves with the way people work, productivity and engagement thrive.
